Weekly Update: August 12, 2015

    Praise the LORD!
    For it is good to sing praises to our God;
        for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.
    The LORD builds up Jerusalem;
        he gathers the outcasts of Israel.
    He heals the brokenhearted
        and binds up their wounds.
    He determines the number of the stars;
        he gives to all of them their names.
    Great is our Lord, and abundant in power;
        his understanding is beyond measure.
    The LORD lifts up the humble;
        he casts the wicked to the ground.
(Psalm 147:1-6 ESV)

Dear Family,

Are you a part of a Life Group? Life Groups are the primary place where you are known and cared for at Cross Creek. It is within these small communities that men, women, and families can build personal relationships and practice applying the gospel to their lives. If you're not a part of one, I encourage you to find one to visit this month.

We are honored to have Dr. Don Sweeting as our guest preacher this Sunday, August 16. Dr. Sweeting is the president and James Woodrow Hassell professor of church history at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. I'm confident that it will be a wonderful Lord's Day as we gather together to worship our risen Savior.

And afterwards we get to party together! We'll have Lunch on the Lawn after worship on Sunday. The church will provide the main course, so please bring a side to share if you can. Also, have your kids bring a bathing suit, a towel, and sunscreen. There will be a water slide and snow cone machine to help beat the heat.

Tonight the youth group will be having a Back to School Party and Cookout at the church, with food, music, and games, from 7-8:30pm. There will also be a Game Night at the Hooper home on Friday night at 8:30pm.

See you Sunday!
