Weekly Update: March 15, 2016

Dear Family,

Today is Primary Tuesday in The Sunshine State! By the time you read this there will be polls indicating who has won Florida. The results may bring elation or perhaps even consternation, but when everything is said and done we must rest in the throne of Christ. The last time I checked, none of the candidates are qualified to be Lord and Savior, so maybe we should not elevate them to the expectation that they will fix all of the world's ills. Remember to "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and render unto God that which is God's" and don't confuse the two. Vote your conscience, refrain from chastising those who think differently, and approach the voting booth with gospel integrity and prayer. And, if you're on social media, please relax the political banter. It is unlikely that you are influencing anyone politically, but you may possibly be hurting the church.

This Sunday in worship we will have the honor of praying for Ryan Ingram as he prepares to be deployed for the next few months. We will be praying for Ryan, Becca and the entire family. I hope you will join us.

Our next phase of the Greater Things campaign will begin shortly. Jan Merson will be leading the campaign. She was trained and educated at the collegiate level for precisely these kinds of campaigns. We look forward to her guidance, but she can't do it all by herself. It will be important for all of us to be involved at various levels. More on this over the coming weeks.

Okay, I'm going to brag on my life group. Sorry, Gary and Laurie Hall, I know you like to do ministry quietly, but I have to share this. On Sunday night the Hall life group invited the Tim and Christen Miller life group for a get-together. Although the life groups are separated by roughly 30 years in age, it was so sweet to spend time with these young adults. We had a great time of fellowship and prayed for them. In fact, I'd like to recommend that all of our life groups take the time to fellowship together once in a while. It was so beautiful and I hope we do it again.

Have you checked the the Cross Creek Events page? There you will find information on our Easter Services, Cross Creek's Health Fair, MOPS Women's Day Retreat, and Cave Quest VBS. A Fine Arts Camp is also being planned this summer. There's a lot happening so be sure to check it out!

As we approach Palm Sunday, let us reflect on Psalm 118:26, "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord." As Jesus was approaching Jerusalem people shouted this verse, proclaiming Hosanna which means "Save, now." We will further unpack this verse in worship this Sunday.
